Community Councillor Vacancy – Borras Park Ward: This Public Notice advertises that the Community Council intends to Co-opt ONE member to fill the vacancy that exist in the office of Councillor for the BORRAS PARK Community (Ward). Expressions of interest are sought from members of the public interested in representing their community who meet the relevant qualifications. Certain people are disqualified from standing, and these include paid officers of the community council, anyone subject to bankruptcy restriction orders and those subject to recent sentences of imprisonment.

Please note that the closing date for receipt of expressions of interest has now been extended to NOON on Monday 17 JUNE 2019. i. Attendance Allowance.

ii. Financial Loss Allowance.

iii. Payments for costs incurred in respect of telephone usage, broadband etc.

iv. Allowances made to a mayor/chair and deputy mayor/chair.

It should be noted that Acton Community Council during the year ended 31 March 2018, did not make any payments to any of its Members in respect of Attendance Allowance, Financial Loss Allowance, Payments for costs incurred in respect of telephone usage, broadband etc. or Allowances made to a mayor/chair and deputy mayor/chair. The Independent Remuneration Panel for Wales has been provided with  a copy of this declaration on 22 May 2018 in discharge of the Council's duties under Section 151 of the above mentioned Act.

This Public Notice advertises that the Community Council within 35 days of the 4 May 2017 Council elections is required to fill the six vacancies in its Acton Central (1) , Borras Park(2) , Little Acton (1) and Maesydre (2) Community Wards  by co-option.

The Council  filled one of the two vacancies for the Maesydre Ward at its Annual meeting and has extended the deadline for expressions of interest for the five remaining vacancies .  The Council intends at its meeting on 20 June 2017 to Co-opt FIVE members to fill the vacancies that exists in the office of Councillor in these wards. ADOPTION OF REVISED MODEL CODE OF CONDUCT: In accordance with the provisions of The Local Authorities (Model Code of Conduct)(Wales)(Amendment) Order 2016, Acton Community Council at its Annual meeting held on 17 May 2016 adopted the revised model code of conduct thus meeting its obligations under the Order in advance of the 26 July 2016 deadline. A Public Notice was inserted in the Wrexham Leader on Wednesday 13 July 2016 to comply with the provisions of section 51(6) of the Local Government Act 2000 which provides as follows:-

“As soon as reasonably practicable after adopting or revising a code of conduct under this section, a relevant authority must–

(a) ensure that copies of the code or revised code are available at an office of the authority for inspection by members of the public at all reasonable hours,

(b) publish in one or more newspapers circulating in their area a notice which–

(i) states that they have adopted or revised a code of conduct,

(ii) states that copies of the code or revised code are available at an office of the authority for inspection by members of the public at such times as may be specified in the notice, and

(iii) specifies the address of that office, and

(c) send a copy of the code or revised code to the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales.”
